Damond flew to success after his College Pro career with a position at Boeing (pardon the pun). But seriously, Damond himself calls his time as a franchisee his springboard to where he is today, and it looks like it’s only onwards and upwards from here.

Education: University of Washington
Rookie Year: 2006 (turf: Greenlake, WA)
Current Home: Seattle, WA

5 years @ College Pro

He started out as a painter, and was promoted to be job site manager before interviewing to become a franchisee. Following his four years in that position, he took on the role of general manager for a year and a half.

From CP to Boeing to Amazon

After College Pro, Damond moved on to Boeing – despite not knowing anything about airplanes. He was a manufacturing manager, where he and a team of mechanics built the interior of the 787 Dreamliner. While it was fun, and interesting, Damond recently moved on to Amazon, where he is the transportation area manager.

His advice…

“Make sure you understand exactly what goes into being a franchisee, because it is a very, very big concept: a college student running their own business. It’s nice to work your own hours and hire your own people, but you get out of it what you put into it” Damond goes on to say that College Pro is an amazing place to find your footing and start off your professional career. Also, he appreciated College Pro in terms of his competitive edge in the job market.

His College Pro Skills…

“It showed me my strengths, and it showed me where I needed to improve. Now, being in a management role at a corporate company, I’m applying those same techniques. It’s a very transformable thing; dealing with people, dealing with budget, dealing with finance and dealing with schedules”

Interesting Tidbits

  • Damond is a huge outdoors fan, and he loves to golf and watch football with his friends
  • He and his wife love living in Seattle, and are constantly exploring
  • He's still incredibly proud of the work he did at College Pro, especially when he won the bid to paint a town house complex in Seattle and got 100% customer satisfaction on the job
  • Also, like so many other alumni, Damond will always look back on President’s Awards as one of his best memories!
